California Style?

How do people dress in California? I am from around Chicago and I am going to central and southern California for a couple of weeks in June and I was wondering what kind of clothes to bring. I have this really cute black Roxy tote bag with hearts on it that I'm thinking of taking as a carry on. I also have a lot of tank tops, light sweatshirts, and flip-flops that I wanna take. Mostly I was just wondering what the fashion is like. Please don't refer me to Hollister or PacSun or anything cause I already know what they have there. But outfits from any store are welcome.
