Where does the vacuum hose under the carburetor on a 200ci For L6 engine go?

My carb on my 68 Falcon Futura is sucking in WAY too much air. so much so that it is audible over the engine during a rev. I notice that there is a hose on the intake directly under the carb that is also sucking air in, and If i put my thumb over the hose it will stall. It runs terrible how it is now, though. Would hooking this hose up help? if so where does it go? I tried putting it on top of the valvecover but it wont start that way.
